Using Australian Labradoodle Therapy Dogs

By Judy Sullivan

Australian labradoodle therapy dogs are used as service dogs because of their gentle temperament and their great sense of smell. They are amazingly calm dogs too which makes them great service animals. Of course it is impossible to deny just how beautiful these pups are. Any therapy dog regardless of the breed has to have special training. The training for these dogs start at a young age like about six weeks to eight weeks old.

Service animals are trained for doing different types of things like working with the deaf and blind. They also work with senior citizens, autism patients, and other people with mental or physical handicaps. The most compatible service animals are the ones that have the most human contact as puppies. Breeders are good at determining which dog has the personality and the temperament for certain people with specific disabilities.

When you are picking a service dog you have to let the breeder of the dogs know what it is you expect from the therapy dog you are buying. You usually pick the therapy dog while it is still a puppy so that it can be trained to do all the things that you have requested of the breeder. If you want your therapy dog to do anything special the breeder will train your dog to do exactly what you want it to do.

You can even buy a service dog for kids with diabetes. These service dogs can be trained to smell high and low blood sugar. They are trained for this from birth. Diabetes service dogs are pretty new to the service dog industry but they are great at helping kids keep their blood sugars at normal levels. They have saved many kids. Service dogs are very well trained and when they are on the job they don't detour from their work. They are on duty until you let them off duty.

The Australian labradoodles are amazing therapy animals. A therapy animal is an animal that is specially trained to go into mental hospitals, nursing homes, hospitals, prisons, and even adoption homes to help brighten up the peoples day. Some people also believe that these animals help heal the patients but that has never been proven.

Therapy dogs have to pass certain test or requirements in order to be a therapy dog. They must go through special training, be able to follow commands immediately, allowing strangers to touch and pet them, they must be able to stay calm in a noisy and chaotic situation, and they must be able to refrain from jumping up on people.

These dogs have such great senses of smell they are wonderful for epileptics that have seizures because they can tell when their master is about to go into a seizure and can even warn them. They can be trained to tell when a seizure is about to accrue. There are even some service dogs that can retrieve medications and bring it to their masters.

Australian labradoodle therapy dogs are definitely the dog you want to think about getting if you plan to buy a service dog. You will love your dog and your dog will love you. They are also wonderful with children and even adults.
